Did anyone else cringe when they got to the part describing Tippi Hedron as “an elegant blond”? I guess it’s to prove that she really didn’t have to do anything for Vietnamese refugees who were admiring her nails?

I wasn’t sure if the American Dream involved kneeling for 12+ hour work days literally at the feet of clients, breathing in chemicals KNOWN to cause cancer and respiratory problems with little chance for health care benefits… all to make manicures and pedicures more affordable. Thanks, NPR reporter, for clarifying that with a terrible pun.

Oh yeah, and that quote above completely spits in the face of every previous wave of immigrants who broke their backs to make a living in whatever sector they could survive working in.

A typical bullshit piece of liberal imperialism, presented as a feel-good triumph of model minorities who were actually given a charitable hand-up by the do-good Hollywood blonde, masking the presumption of white supremacism and its demand for gruelling service work from a permanent non-white underclass. And yeah the quote above isn’t worthy of the electricity that’s lighting up those pixels on my monitor, I want a refund from NPR on my next electricity bill.
